President's Message
It is a great honour to be the first President of KCST and witness the tremendous progress made since 2016 in realising its vision to become a leading institution of science and technology in the Middle East with international standards in teaching and research. On that route, KCST has reached some key milestones, such as achieving over 1200 graduates (as of Spring 2024/25) with an employment rate exceeding 90% within 3 months of graduation and a significant number in the private sector. In research, our faculty productivity has been second to none among universities in the Middle East, achieving over 1000 publications in five years.
We will maintain and nurture our fundamental values of Excellence, Care and Respect. Our focus will continue to be on equipping our students with the self- and continuous learning capabilities and awareness of the global challenges through linking their projects to the UN Strategic Development Goals (SDGs) while providing them with the cutting-edge technical skills and managerial knowledge that allow them to succeed in the careers and fill the acute skill gap in the job market.
We will continue to invest heavily in our facilities, teaching, research and human capital. We are very proud that KCST is now known for its high standards of teaching and its impactful research and innovation. This reputation is supported by many unique teaching and research facilities that inspire our students to world-class education, including the MIT-certified FabLab, the first Educational Cybersecurity SOC in a university in the Middle East, the World-first Innovative Renewable Energy Testbed and the Centre of AI and Robotics, Huawei 5G lab in addition to many other research facilities in the areas of Nano-technologies and the Internet of Things with smart farming projects.
The impact of our efforts was demonstrated when we put all our innovation and research labs in the service of the State of Kuwait and the heroes at the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19. Over several months, the management, technical staff, and, most importantly, our wonderful volunteer students worked long hours to design, fabricate and distribute face shields to hospitals and other sites. Meanwhile, our researchers developed statistical studies and technologies to understand and tackle the pandemic.
KCST is growing; our building expansion project started in November 2024 and is expected to finish in less than two years to create one of Kuwait's most impressive university campuses with state-of-the-art students and sports facilities, Innovation Centre and Business Incubation Centre. We continue to update our curriculum in collaboration with our partners in IIT Delhi to introduce specialisations in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, Renewable Energy and OT Instrumentation to our current programs. Meanwhile, our application to add many new programs in engineering and start our Faculty of Business Management with many exciting programs in collaboration with BAYES Business School of City, University of London, are in the final stages of approval by the Private Universities Council. Consequently, we change the name to a university.
KCST will continue to be known for its care for its students, who will be the focus of operations. The students of KCST will receive high-quality education and support to achieve their best. KCST has already established a culture of respect among all its stakeholders. Respect will be the norm among and between students, faculty and all staff in the College. Respect for others regardless of gender, race, religion or origin.
We had a very successful few years behind, and we look forward to exciting and successful years to come. I hope you find our programs inspiring and exciting and that you will become a KCST student soon.
